Perhaps the best thing about Diver Lake is that it is central to everything in the City. Located at the foot of Mount Benson, there are many home options to choose from with fabulous mountain views. There are many older dwellings in the area with pockets of newer subdivisions as well. Home prices here are affordable, so it can be a great option for getting into the housing market.

Coal Tyee Elementary is nestled back on the residential streets in the community with Wellington High School not too far. Country Club Mall and Nanaimo North Town Centre are nearby and provide for most of your shopping needs. Beban Rec Centre has an indoor aquatic center, ice rink, wooded trails, sports fields, BMX track, and pitch and putt golf course, and the list goes on. Beban also hosts the annual Vancouver Island Exhibition Fair and the farmers market in the summer, as well as various events throughout the year.

The nearby Long Lake is a popular swimming destination in the summer. Diver Lake is visible from the highway. It’s smaller, and has a marshland setting. The park at the lake has dog-friendly trails with wooden walkways, and a playground. The lake is stocked with fish, and locals can be seen regularly fishing there from the docks or floating about in small inflatables.

The bus service here is decent due to its central location, but there are some streets without raised sidewalks, making walking more difficult. It could defiantly be more pedestrian friendly. All in all, the affordability, and location make Diver Lake a great spot for families to raise their kids from elementary through University.
